After 6 amazing blog posts by both Jovana and Viktoria, the two finalists in our #BloggerChallenge, we have analysed all data and are happy to announce the winner! Afterwards, let us check in with both finalists – we welcomed them back in Vienna when they arrived from their flights from #EWR and #JFK and caught them for a quick interview. 🙂

And the winner is … Jovana!

About the big announcement!

We have heard your concerns about the possible use of Tweet Bots in the #BloggerChallenge. In the sense of a fair competition for everyone involved, we have decided to not include Twitter at all in our final reporting and score board. This wasn’t an easy decision, but in the name of a fair game, the right one for us. Since we hadn’t considered the use of Tweet Bots beforehand, we want to make all numbers completely transparent for you: The way the score has been initially calculated in the matrix and the final score – of course for both Jovana and Viktoria, but also for the people who have voted for them.

Every day, after each blogger’s posts were posted on the Austrian Airlines Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page, the challenge for everyone voting back at home started anew. After approximately 24 hours every day, but definitely at the exact same time for both bloggers, a cut-off point for (at this point) yesterday’s post was reached – and all Likes, Shares, Retweets, Favorites, +1s and Shares were counted. These numbers were then multiplied with certain factors.

To keep you in the loop about the initial matrix and calculations, these were based on the following factors:

Facebook:
Likes x 0,05
Shares x 0,4

Twitter:
Retweets x 0,35
Favorites x 0,1

Google +:
+1 x 0,05
Share x 0,05

For the final score, we have decided to keep Twitter out of the equation. The relevant numbers therefore were:

Facebook:
Likes x 0,05
Shares x 0,4

Google +:
+1 x 0,05
Share x 0,05

And now, we’ll let Viktoria and Jovana tell you how the #BloggerChallenge was for them: We met them shortly after their arrival at the airport in Vienna!

Viktoria

Viktoria’s flight from #JFK arrived first in Vienna, and we met up in the Austrian Business Lounge – where she told us everything she didn’t mention on her blog yet.

Austrian Airlines

… the #BloggerChallenge in three words: „Crazy, creative, funny!“

…. her highlights from the week: „One highlight definitely was dancing Viennese Waltz in Central Park. And the on-board announcement was very funny, because I had to jump over my own shadow. Watching the video online I realised just how nervous I was! Because I didn’t know how the people were going to react. But most people were very positive, I also loved the flash mob and dancing with the crew!“

… a very special tip for New York: „Just walk. Seriously, just walk, just… Get lost! Get lost on purpose, take a look at where you’re really going – also off the beaten track, try to have a look behind the scenes. I also loved Staten Island, there weren’t many people there. And of course Central Park was beautiful to spend a day in.“

Jovana

Afterwards we met up with Jovana, who had a few hours to spend and relax in the Austrian Business Lounge in Vienna before her flight back to Belgrade.

Austrian Airlines

… the #BloggerChallenge in three words: „Intense, amusing, challenging!“

… her favourite challenge: „My favourite challenge was the „I’ll be back!“ challenge. I went on the ferry and had so much fun. People on the ferry came from all around the world, Australia, UK, Americans, and they all wanted to help out. I also met this professor with her students who absolutely loved the idea. The hardest challenge definitely was giving away the Manner Schnitten in Newark because there was no one there who took the chocolates off me. I even ended up going back!“

… a very special tip for New York: „There is a secret place where you have the most amazing view one stop from Grand Central on Train 7. It’s Vernon-Jackson stop and you go to Long Island City in Queens. There you have the most amazing view of Manhattan, which is ideal for such a challenge when you want to have the best view of New York.“

As to what is next for both girls? Travelling, of course! (What kind of question was that, anyways.) Jovana wants to visit Sydney, and Viktoria is already leaving for her next big trip (Canada, Mexico and Florida) next week! We are already looking forward to reading about both of their adventures online – and thank both of them again for sharing their amazing stories with us.
